Ohaneze Youth Council (OYC), the apex socio-cultural organization of Igbo youths at home and in the Diaspora, has taken a swipe at the former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar and the immediate past governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha who it described as moles and mercenaries planted in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.

The National President of OYC, Comrade Igboayaka O. Igboayaka who stated this at a press conference held at Abuja on Friday April 24, noted that what happened in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, ahead of the 2023 election, is about to replicate itself in the ADC’s presidential primary election.

Igboayaka, recalled that what ultimately led to the disintegration of the PDP was Atiku Abubakar’s disrespect for the rotational presidency arrangement between the North and South.

According to him, “former Governor Nyesom Wike, did not intentionally seek to destroy the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), but rather because Atiku Abubarkar declined to allow Southern Nigeria to produce the presidential candidate of PDP, despite the fact that Buhari who was from the North had occupied the position for eight consecutive years”.

“The North also currently held the positions of, “National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and PDP presidential ticket, in contravention of an agreement stipulating that if the PDP presidential candidate hailed from the north, Iyorchia Ayu should cede the National Chairmanship to a Southern candidate, but Atiku Abubakar and his camp flouted the agreement with impunity.

Regrettably, Senator David Mark from the north is currently occupying the national chairmanship position of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, also from the North, is vying for the ADC presidential primary. To demonstrate his sincerity in thwarting Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, Atiku Abubakar should relinquish his pursuit of the ADC presidential ticket and endorse a Southern Nigerian candidate.”

Igboayaka, further stated that it is essential to recognize that various individuals of Igbo extraction who are Fulani agents, including Kenneth Okonkwo and Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, have been uncovered as working towards a unified goal for Atiku Abubarkar”s emergence in the ADC presidential primary election, to sabotage Mr. Peter Obi’s presidential bid.”

According to OYC, Atiku Abubarka’s decision to contest the 2027 presidential primary on the platform of the ADC, not minding that it is  the turn of Southern Nigeria, is a deliberate strategic move orchestrated to facilitate Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election, while positioning himself for a potential handover in 2031.

Comrade Igboayaka lamented that, “in Imo State former Gov Emeka Ihedioha, a northern Fulani agent, a mole to president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has installed his loyalists to work against Mr Peter Obi’s presidential project in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for the interest of Atiku Abubarka presidential bid.

“In furtherance of this perceived political conspiracy against Peter Obi within the ADC, we urge him to relinquish his membership of the African Democratic Congress within 72 hours and identify an alternative political party to ensure his candidacy in the 2027 presidential election by all feasible means” Comrade Igboayaka concluded”.
