The relative peace and victory recently recorded by the APC South-East leadership have gradually begun to give way to tension, confusion, and serious political agitation from leaders of the Isu Clan in Orlu Local Government Area, following what they described as the gross marginalization of their people in government.

The desire of the incumbent member representing Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu (Omeogo), to return to the House of Representatives has attracted serious condemnation and rejection from constituents, who described his performance as “below average.”

Hon. Steve Anugwom, National President of the Isu Clan Consultative Assembly (ICCA), while addressing journalists in Owerri, expressed dismay that Hon. Nwachukwu is seeking re-election despite, according to him, having little to show for his time in office.

Anugwom, a political activist from Orlu, advised the governor not to make the mistake of supporting Hon. Omeogo’s return to the National Assembly, insisting that his presence has brought no visible political benefit to the governor’s administration.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that the governor is backing Chief Canice Moore Nwachukwu against the interests of the Isu Clan in Orlu.

Hon. Anugwom described Nwachukwu’s representation as “a total disaster,” allegedly marked by ineffectiveness, lack of accountability, and poor responsiveness to the yearnings of constituents.

He further stated that the Isu Clan is still grieving the loss of two of its illustrious sons in pursuit of representation at the National Assembly, yet “our relevance in the federal constituency appears unnoticed.”

“Within our federal constituency, Orlu/Orsu/Oru-East, the Orsu Clan has occupied the House of Representatives seat for 24 years through Hon. Dr. Jeff Orjinika, Hon. Mayor Eze, and later Hon.

Jerry Alagbaoso, who spent 12 uninterrupted years in the National Assembly, now followed by the incumbent, Hon. Canice Moore Nwachukwu.

“This is not fair. Isu Clan remains the economic heartbeat of the Orlu nation. The clan deserves better, especially considering that we are at the receiving end of lands being taken over by successive governments for development projects,” he added.

He called for equity, fairness, and justice for the Isu Clan.

“Anyone denying the Isu Clan this opportunity is reinforcing failure.”

“Consequently, we have credible candidates from the Isu Clan in Orlu. We are confident that His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma’s Senate ambition is a collective project. Therefore, we also demand inclusiveness so that the House of Representatives project from Isu Clan can equally become a collective one,” Anugwom stated.
