The member representing Owerri Federal constituency in the House of Representatives Hon Tochukwu Okere, has once again enumerated his impressive list of achievements in the past three years.
TOSKA, as fondly called by his numerous supporters and constituents, in a press statement issued by his media team disclosed that, “the true measure of leadership is not how many people serve the leader, but how many people the leader serves”.
Some constituents who commented on Okere’s three year representation, said, the lawmakers sojourn in the 10th national assembly has become a story of purposeful leadership, effective representation and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people”.
They also commended the lawmaker for placing a premium on the empowerment of women and youths.
According to them, “Recognizing that the strength of every society lies in the empowerment of its people, particularly its women and youth, Hon. TOSKA has facilitated the training and empowerment of over 1,825 women and youths through various skill acquisition programmes, business grants, startup support initiatives, and capacity-building interventions.
Thousands of beneficiaries have been equipped with tools not merely to survive, but to thrive and become employers of labour within their communities.
INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT
Across Owerri Federal Constituency, the footprints of development continue to speak eloquently. Through strategic constituency interventions, Hon. Okere has facilitated the construction, rehabilitation, and installation of twenty-one independent phases, totalling hundred of roads, classrooms, civic centres, water projects, solar-powered streetlights, and other critical infrastructure aimed at improving the quality of life of constituents.These projects stand as enduring symbols of a representation that understands the practical needs of the people.
HEALTHCARE INTERVENTIONS
Believing that healthy people make a prosperous society, the lawmaker has championed several healthcare initiatives, including the renovation and upgrading of health facilities, medical outreaches, distribution of healthcare materials, and support for vulnerable groups.
Specifically, five thousand vulnerable constituents of Owerri Federal Constituency have directly benefited from the ImoCare program through the sponsorship of Hon. TOSKA’s healthcare interventions were facilitated through his office.
Others who spoke in the same vein stated that, “ In a bid to strengthen food security and improve livelihoods, Hon. Okere has supported farmers across the constituency through the distribution of farm inputs, seedlings, fertilizers, modern agricultural tools, and training programmes.
Hundreds of farmers have benefited from these interventions, contributing significantly to seedlings procurements and general agricultural productivity and economic growth within the constituency.
SPORTS DEVELOPMENT
Understanding the power of sports as a vehicle for youth engagement and talent discovery, Hon. Tochukwu Okere has consistently invested in sporting activities, tournaments, competitions, and youth development programmes.
Through these initiatives, hundreds of young talents have been identified, encouraged, and provided platforms to pursue their dreams while promoting unity and healthy competition among communities. Specifically eight footballers have been sponsored to various foreign club sides to further their football careers through the office of Hon. Tochukwu Okere.
