The All Progressives Congress candidate for Imo East Senatorial District and successful businessman Prince (Dr) Alex Mbata, has expressed deep grief over the demise of respected Umuocham Emekuku, Owerri North LGA born cultural icon Paddy Obinna. He also highlighted the virtues and contributions of the deceased to the socio-political development of Orri zone.
Mbata, in a statement signed signed by Innocent Onyeukwu, Head, Communications, said, “The APC candidate for Imo East Senatorial District, Prince (Dr.) Alex Mbata, and the PAM Foundation have received with profound sadness the news of the passing of renowned cultural icon, elder statesman, and respected intellectual, Paddy Obinna. His death is a painful loss not only to his family and associates but also to the cultural, literary, and artistic community, where he distinguished himself through decades of selfless service, uncommon scholarship, and unwavering commitment to the promotion of society’s finest values.
As an illustrious son of Owerri Zone, Paddy Obinna brought honour and distinction to his homeland through his enduring contributions to the preservation, promotion, and celebration of Igbo culture, heritage, and the arts. His passion for preserving the identity and history of his people earned him widespread admiration and secured him a place among the most respected cultural voices of his generation.
Prince (Dr.) Mbata describes the late Paddy Obinna as a rare patriot, an accomplished intellectual, and a man of extraordinary humility whose wisdom, eloquence, integrity, and exceptional intellect inspired people across generations. Through his writings, public engagements, and lifelong advocacy for cultural renaissance, he enriched public discourse and left an enduring legacy that will continue to guide and inspire present and future generations.
