…urges Members To Remain Law Abiding
The leadership of Action Peoples Party APP has accused the ruling party in imo state All Progressives Congress of intimidation and harassment even as it urged its members to remain peaceful and law abiding in the face of provocation.
Reports have it that members of APP in Ideato North and in some other local government areas of the state were harassed and intimidated by suspected members of the ruling party.
Briefing newsmen at the state party Secretariat Iwuanyanwu Glasshouse Ugwu Orji Thursday, the state party chairman, Hon. Ernest Njesi stated that out of fear that APP would be taking over the state come 2027 following enormous support the party is getting from imo people, the ruling party had embarked on carrying out violence against APP urging APP members in the state to remain peaceful and law abiding in the face of provocation.
Hon Njesi noted that the party had concluded it’s primaries with three senatorial candidates, ten federal Representative and 27 state house of Assembly candidates to contest in the forthcoming elections adding the party had followed it up with reconciliatory exercise among the successful and unsuccessful contestants in just concluded primaries.
In his words’, Today the APP has been receiving serious supports from imo people in particular and Nigerians in general. We are ready to take over the helm of affairs in the state. Our government will be a complete departure of APC government that lacks direction.
‘Imo state today does not represent an ideal state. There is no clear-cut again on health, Agriculture, Education etc. Indiscriminate demolition of industries and firms and means of people’s livelihood unlike it were during the time of late Sir Sam Mbakwe.
He further stated that Education, security among others will return to how it was during Sam Mbakwe maintaining that the present government is not developing the state rather are developing their pockets.
Responding on the issue of deregistration of the party, the APP chairman maintained that the party was not deregistered hinting that all their candidates for the forthcoming elections had been uploaded on the INEC portals even as he noted that he as the party chairman was dully invited to the stakeholder meeting by INEC.
