Following the refusal of Governor Hope Uzodinma to pay Imo pensioners arrears of pension, the pensioners have now resolved to storm the Assumpta cathedral for a special prayer to save their souls on November 15,2020.

According to the Chairman of the retired Imo permanent secretaries, Sir F.I Agba who spoke to our reporter on phone, it is no longer a joke as they have lost so many of their members since the emergence of Senator Hope Uzodinma as governor of Imo state.

Agba revealed that majority of Imo pensioners have been without pension since January, 2020 when Uzodinma was sworn in as governor of Imo State. According to him, what they experienced with the present administration is either outright refusal to pay or staggered payment, of select pensioners.

Speaking on the church service which as gathered will be presided over by Arch Bishop AJV Obinna, he said that pensioners are expected to be at the church by 9:30am.

Agba hinted that all efforts made, including several verification exercises carried out by the government consultants have never yielded any positive outcome.”All we hear every day is, “be patient, government is doing it’s best to address the issues”. Our theme for the prayer session is, “WE TAKE OUR CASE TO GOD”, he started.
