A group known as Concerned Mbaise citizens, has risen up, in defense of the Managing Director of ABC Transport company , Chief Frank Nneji and also condemned in very strong terms, what it referred to as, misleading, malicious and derogatory reports against him.
They referred to a recent publication where Nneji who also hails from Mbaise was reported to be fronting for the Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who intends to facilitate his emergence as a governorship candidate in 2019, to spite and truncate the chances of an Mbaise son, who has also declared his governorship ambition.

In a release by the group, titled “who is afraid of Frank Nneji’, signed by Hon. Onyemma Anuli, Ugochukwu Akumole, Nwugo Bartholomew and Emmanuel Christopher, they berated the sponsors of the publication, in question, for casting aspersions on Chief Nneji, whom they referred to as a seasoned and tested man of integrity, impeccable track record, an experienced manager of men and resources, who, by dint of hard work, prudence and the grace of God, carved a nitch for himself. “His companies, aside being the second highest employer of labour in the state, apart from the state government, are also quoted in the Nigerian stock exchange. A man whose efforts to build his business are documented in many reputable business schools at home and abroad. We cannot therefore fold our hands and watch his name and reputation rubbished by people who have not even been able to successfully manage a kiosk in their life time”.

They frowned at the cowardly and retrogressive attitude of blackmailing the brightest and best people out of leadership positions, and allowing the emergence of “quacks, crooks, charlatans and hypocrites who mismanage our affairs, misrule us and loot our resources, to the detriment of the people”.

They maintained that, though the business magnet has not yet declared his ambition to contest the governorship election, despite calls from various groups and well meaning individuals for him to throw his hat in the ring, they urged him to contest, to enable him, deploy his skills, administrative, managerial experience and business acumen to the service of our dear state that is presently in urgent need of somebody with his attributes to rescue us from the sad, pitiable and battered condition, that Imolites have been subjected to, and take us to where we should rightly be now, considering the state’s vast human and material resources.

They availed that, Chief Nneji, who was once President of Owerri Chamber of Commerce, aside having the constitutional right to aspire to any position of his choice, is more qualified than those who think that contesting for elective positions is their birth right.
They also opined that the ABC transport Chief executive, as a successful business man, is neither poor nor hungry and cannot therefore be anybody’s stooge as alleged. According to them some professional cowardly politicians who see the probable emergence of Nneji on the political scene as a threat, considering his transparent track records, are devising all kinds of schemes pull him down, but will not succeed.
