The governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has described as unpatriotic and enemies of Imo State all those who have been critical of his erecting a befitting statue for the visiting president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, stating that the man needed it and his recent visit will attract investors to the state and as well bring about economic development.

Addressing the congregation at the government house chapel Owerri recently Owelle Okorocha stated that he had to erect the statue to appreciate the man who has not been appreciated by his people in South African and also to clear all the insults and misgivings about this clean man.
He declared that all those crucifying this man Zuma do not know that the South African president does not have up to one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) in his account let alone being corrupt as he is being painted in the media.
He said that when Jacob Zuma came to Imo State and saw numerous portraits and statues of the commander of free education in Nigeria adorning every nooks and cranny as well as bill boards all over the state he exclaimed “see how your people love you and for all I have done for my people in south Africa they have not been able to erect a statue for me”.
Owelle said it is to appreciate what Jacob Zuma has done for the people of South Africa that I decided to erect a statue for him in Imo and those criticizing are ignorant and enemies of progress.
