Shortly after the Presidential and National Assembly elections and barely eight days ahead of the state governorship and House of Assembly elections, one of the contending parties, the United Progressive Party, (UPP) is already in disarray as National Assembly candidates and followers were grumbling over some money allegedly released for the presidential campaigns from the presidency through the governorship candidate.

The National Assembly candidates who met in Owerri on Wednesday February 27, to review what played out in the just concluded elections accused the governorship candidate Tony Nwulu of not being concerned about their cause and for having allegedly muzzled some funds released to the party alongside other parties in alliance with the Buhari’s next level ambition.

They alleged that the guber candidate who is a promoter of the “not too young to run law”, would not have engaged in acts that would mar the chances of his party candidates to the National Assembly, who are mostly young politicians.

They had also alleged that the governorship candidate,Hon. Nwulu had only issued paltry sum of money to some of the candidates to build giant billboards for him but told his colleagues that he collected no money from the presidency.Part of the reason the candidates are not happy with Tony Nwulu is mis representation of facts. For instance,he claims he gave out over one Million Naira(#1000000.00) to each of the National Assembly candidates when in actual sense,it was far below what he released to them.

It would be recalled that the governorship candidate, Hon. Tony Nwulu had about a week to the presidential elections met with President Buhari who was said to be considering him as a better alternative, for the governorship of Imo State.

The presidency was suspected to have doled out a largesse for his campaigns which others did not know of and this has been creating bad blood, discordant tunes within their ranks.

When contacted the spokesperson of the group, Hon. Mrs Happiness Williams admitted they had some issues and there are no problems as the national leadership of the party has waded in to resolve the issues at stake.

Earlier, the governorship candidate was alleged to have told his colleagues and supporters that the money he gave out was from his pocket as he did not receive any money from the presidency, a claim that did not go down well with the National Assembly candidates and their followers.
