A Federal High Court sitting in Owerri, Imo State Capital has finally dismissed a suit filed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu (SamDaddy), challenging the emergence of Imo State Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP).

Senator Anyanwu had approached the Court shortly after the primary election, seeking to nullify the victory of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as candidate and rather to be declared as the authentic winner of the Imo PDP governorship primary election.

He had accused Hon. Ihedioha of engaging in over voting and manipulation of the exercise, which he alleged, swayed the polls in favour of Ihedioha.

Delivering judgment in the suit, Justice Tijani Ringing, said the plaintiff did not convince the court on the prayers he sought. He said that from the allegations leveled against Ihedioha, by Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the Court could not establish the fact in his claims and therefore dismissed the suit for lack of proof.

It would be recalled that the Imo Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha during the governorship primary election conducted in Owerri on the 1st October, 2018 polled a total of 1723 votes to defeat his closest rival, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, who polled 1282 votes.

While Senator Anyanwu rejected the result of the primary election, 5 other aspirants, namely Senator Athan Achonu, Prof. Jude Njoku, Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru, and Chief George Ejike, immediately embraced and congratulated Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha on his victory and joined his campaign tours.
