1. Hon Ngozi Obiefule

The lawmaker representing Isu State Constituency in the Imo House of Assembly, Rt. Hon.(Mrs) Ngozi Obiefule has lampooned politicians, in the country without exception, for the decay in the health sector and contended that the current Coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world including Nigeria is a divine lesson to the elite class of the society who do not mean well for the rest of the citizens.

According to the female legislator, “God has a purpose for sending the Coronavirus pandemic at a time like this in the world history. It has taught a bitter lesson”.

Speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview in Owerri, the two time ranking legislator commended Governor Hope Uzodinma for the proactive measures he has taken so far to prevent the spread of the disease in the state and urged him to ensure that he builds and equips a standard hospital in each of the three senatorial zones and initiate some palliative measures to assuage the effects of sit at home order on the state.

Hon Obiefule contended that the money politicians and government spend for medical trips overseas and the ones laundered abroad if judiciously  applied would have given us “ well equipped hospitals  to take care of our many health challenges”.

She adduced that if Owelle Rochas Okorocha had built and equipped only three hospitals in each of the three senatorial zones, Imo State today would have been a medical tourist state. She also observed that since Okorocha failed in this project, Governor Emeka Ihedioha should have within his tenure given a standard hospital to Imo state or completed some of the ones begun by Okorocha.

The legislator opined that “as a Governor, the money you hold belongs to the people and as such funds should be used to work for the people”. She advised the Governor that in view of the current ravaging pandemic and a matter of urgency, should select from the already built housing structures by Okorocha for hospitals across the political zones.
