The Special Adviser to the Governor of Imo State on Mining Matters, Chief (Dr) Kingsley Ufere, has warned those he referred to as unscrupulous elements in the Mining industry in the state, to desist from harassing operators or face the full weight of the law.

Chief Ufere’s reaction through a release signed by him and made available to Newsmen in Owerri was aimed at exposing the  activities of the unscrupulous elements parading the entire mining landscape of Imo State, where they were observed to be peddling fake demand notices for “sand mines revenue and regulations”. Miners in Imo State were therefore warned to resist from the illegal acts by refusing such payments to the impostors.

“Consequently, the Mining public is hereby advised to disregard any form of Authority or Authorization being peddled by anyone purportedly for the purpose of Mines route or Mining revenue rights not emanating from the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mining Matters. Such Authority is by this announcement invalidated.

“Miners are therefore requested to please direct all complaints of any harassment, intimidation or extortion to the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Mining Matters”, the release stated.
