The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, at the party State Secretariat in Owerri, organized a Service of Songs/Night of Tributes in honour of the pioneer State Chairman, Chief Innocent Diala Nwoga, who transited to greater glory in March 2020. Late Nwoga will be buried today, July 31, 2020 at his country home in Umuokirika Ekwerazu, Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area.

In his speech, the outgoing State Chairman of Imo PDP, Sir Martin Ejiogu, said he was short of words to describe the eminence of Chief I.D Nwoga. However, he said that from the much he heard, knew about the departed great leader, and with the much he experienced personally observing him and learning from him over the past few years, he was a good man and a great leader. Sir Martin Ejiogu prayed for the repose of the soul of I.D Nwoga, while imploring fortitude for all to bear his transition.

Some elders of the party, who served Imo PDP during the period Chief I.D Nwoga served as pioneer State Chairman, were in attendance and delivered touching speeches and tributes to the departed great leader. They included Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu; Dr. Alex Obi; Barr Peter Mgbenwelu; Chief Analyn Nwaneri; and Engr. Charles Ugwu. The Nwoga family was represented by some members of the family.

Some other leaders of the party, including some serving lawmakers of Imo PDP also graced the solemn event, which was officiated by Rev. Fr. Val Anyanwu, with an accompanying choir.

The other leaders included attendance, Rt Hon Okey Onyekanma, Hon. Philip Ejiogu, Hon. Barr Anyadike Nwosu, Rt Hon Chuma Nnaji, High Chief Bonny Ebili, Sir Bon Unachukwu, Chief Richmond Osuji, Dr. Johnbosco Nkpadobi, Hon. Ben Duru, Hon. Emeka Okpokoro among others too numerous to mention. 

The State Working Committee (SWC) was on ground with the leaders of the Organizing Committee for the Burial of Chief I.D Nwoga to ensure the success of the event. They included outgoing State Secretary; Hon Nze Ray Emeaña, outgoing State Organizing Secretary, Nze Law Biaduo; Ahiazu Mbaise PDP Chairman, Hon. Anyanwu; outgoing State Women Leader, Hon. Chief Mrs Maria Mbakwe; State Auditor, Hon. Chief Godson Nwaobasi; Acting. State Youth Leader, and Acting State Publicity Secretary; Hon Greg Nwadike, Hon Ogubundu Nwadike.

There were readings from Bible verses and prayers of the faithful, with the choir giving good renditions of relevant hymns and choruses suitable for the occasion.

In that solemn manner, Imo PDP bid farewell to their very first State Chairman, Late Chief I.D Nwoga, pleading with God Almighty for the repose of his soul.
