The General Manager cum Chairman of Ugwumba Movement recently invited Oru East ward chairmen to his ITC office in Owerri where he issued some instructions and later doled out the sum of N50,000 to each of the ward chairmen with a promise of greater incentive provided they do not shift grounds or defect to the rival, to the Ararume Destiny Organization.
Some of the politicians who spoke on the development argued whether it is not with public funds raised through the peoples cooperate outfit that this public servant is doling out this largesse.
One of the ward chairmen who spoke to our reporter under condition of anonymity stated that before now the ward chairmen were neglected and abandoned but “since Ararume gathered his supporters, Okorocha government has been forced to recognize us but how far they can go we don’t know, Ararume will be a hard nut to crack”
