The people of Nwaotuoke Mbieri in Mbaitoli LGA recently held their 2nd leadership retreat/training which took place at Aladinma Women Hall, Umunjam Mbieri which is aimed at impacting leadership qualities on the people for the good of the community and Imo state in general is the initiative of one of the illustrious sons of the community (Deacon) Chuma Okwuodo who is also the President of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Town Union.
In his opening remarks, Chief Iroegbu thanked Chuma Okwuodo and his executives for their innovations and initiatives towards uplifting the area since they assumed office and described him as a visionary leader.
While speaking on the first topic: “Leadership Attitudes” Pastor Val Arizuma who is also a son of Mbieri said that leadership is an assignment with a task and for every leader to succeed he or she must place the interest of his people above his personal interests. He further enumerated some leadership qualities that a leader should possess such as; honesty, integrity, inspire others, commitment and passion, ability to communicate and take decisions among others. Pastor Val Arizuma further charged Mbieri people to be good ambassadors of their community whenever and wherever they find themselves.
Delivering the second lecture with the theme: “Making Mbieri Great Again – the challenges and rewards of leadership”, Hon. Ifenyinwa Okafor told all Mbieri sons and daughters that Mbieri can be great again if they come together with a common goal. Hon. Ifenyinwa Okafor engaged all participants in a discussion session in which people were segmented into groups and at the end, each group made a presentation of how Mbieri can be great again.
The President of Mbieri Nwaotuoke Town Union, Deacon Chuma Okwuodo expressed happiness at this year’s leadership retreat/training stating that it is an improvement on last year’s edition with more participants. He therefore pledged to continue to bring good ideas and initiatives that will move Mbieri Town Union to greater heights.
Deacon Chuma Okwuodo also admonished all participants to put into practice what they learnt in this year’s leadership retreat/training to make Mbieri and Imo state great again.
