A first class traditional ruler in the state and Chairman of South East Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Eze Dr. Cletus Ilomuanya has advised youths of the 12 local government areas of Orlu zone to be conscious of their activities before, during and after the 2019 general elections, to avoid destroying their prospects or mortgaging their future.

Eze Ilomuanya gave the advice, when the Orlu project Team paid him a visit to formerly consult him on the aspiration of their principal, Comrade Precious Nwadike, who is the United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for Orlu senatorial zone.

The monarch urged the youths to be ready to take over power and occupy leadership positions by developing the right mindset, noting that power is not given on a platter of gold but taken by those who are ready for it.

He stated that, as traditional rulers, they are not supposed to be involved in active politics but “I will continue to pray and bless those who mean well for the people.I have known Precious Nwadike as a promising young man, hence, I am not surprised that he has decided to contest for the Orlu senate seat. I wish him God’s blessing and protection in his worthy ambition”.

Earlier, in an emotion laden speech, Comrade Nwadike expressed dissatisfaction with how traditional rulers and elderly people in the state are treated with disdain. He assured that, his emergence as senator for Orlu zone, will be a new and glorious beginning for monarchs in the zone, as no society grows without according the elderly and custodians of culture and tradition their rightful place. “I will liaise with and work in synergy with relevant institutions and stakeholders to ensure that our pensioners are paid their statutory emoluments as and at when due and our traditional rulers also given the relevance and respect they are entitled to”. Comrade Nwadike promised to keep in touch with the monarch, after consulting with Orlu Elders and stakeholders.
