The remains of late Rt. Hon. Bethel Nnaemeka Amadi, former House of Representatives legislator, representing Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal constituency, who died on February 10, 2019, will be committed to mother earth on Friday, April 5, 2019, at his country home in Amii-Akabo Ikeduru, after series of funeral ceremonies and services in his honour.

A release from the noble Amadi’s family of Amii-Akabo in Ikeduru LGA indicates that, a weeklong ceremony preceding his final interment will begin with a service of songs in his honour by 5pm, on April 1, at his No 4 Abba Rimi close, legislative quarters, Abuja, whereas his body will arrive the National Assembly Complex for lying in state on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.

According to the arrangements by the family, a sing song in his honour will be held on Wednesday April 3, by Knights Order of St. Christopher, Ikeduru Anglican Diocese, at Hon. Amadi’s compound.

On Thursday April 4, there will be a night of tributes for the deceased, to be held at Ridge Event Centre, along Onitsha-Owerri road by 4pm, while a service of songs will also feature at late Hon. Amadi’s Ikeduru compound by 6:30pm, while funeral service will be conducted at St. Stephen Anglican Church, Akabo Ikeduru by 11:30am. This will be followed by interment at 1:30pm, or thereabout.

Late Bethel Amadi was a two term legislator in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly, and a former Chairman of the Pan-African Common Wealth Assembly, where he distinguished himself as a democrat yet unsurpassed by his contemporaries. In 2015, he aspired to be the Governor of Imo State. Though he paraded very outstanding pedigree of selfless services, devoid of familiocracy, autocracy or clannishness, his Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) didn’t consider him good enough probably because he did not accumulate enough looted public friends to buy delegates. It was therefore a rude shock to Community Watchdog Newspaper and indeed all lovers of true democracy which he epitomized while alive when his demise was announced without any prior notice of any terminal disease or illness.

May his gentle soul continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord.
