Mr Kingsley Mbamara, Bursar of the Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, was among those who recently bagged the prestigious Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) fellowship award.
The award was bestowed on him for achieving the prestigious ICAN certificate, and acquiring requisite experience in the profession several years ago.
As a fellow, he is a resource person among ICAN, members nationwide, and expected to impact such knowledge in others, as well as prevail on the society for accounting principles.

While interacting with our reporter shortly after the investiture event, Mr Mbamara said, “ICAN being a professional body is committed to financial prudence in the affairs of man and governance”. He added that, he is happy for the epoch making occasion, having bagged the fellowship award that offers the chartered status on him as a financial expert and distinguished accountant.
Before joining IMSU, Kingsley Mbamara, started as a lecturer at the then Imo State University, Uturu, now in Abia State. He later went into private consultancy and auditing a number of Blue Chip Companies and firms. He later joined the Imo State University Owerri as Bursar, when the opportunity came, with the mindset of introducing financial prudence in the system of operation and auditing, in place at the university.
Kingsley Mbamara has since changed the narrative in record keeping and accounting in the university with financial integrity and accountability already engendered.
It has been an avalanche of goodwill messages for Mr Kingsley Mbamara, since his elevation to the status of fellow of ICAN. One of such messages came from the Bursary Welfare Association of IMSU, with Dr. Emma Esomonu as Chairman.
In their message, they described Mbamara as a financial wizard, whose expertise and integrity have robbed-off on them and were delighted that his new status would benefit the university and the rest of the society more.
