The Imo State government led by Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has pledged it’s preparedness and readiness to work in synergy with the Imo State Police Command in it’s unrelenting efforts to curb crime in the State.

The Special Assistant (SA) Youths Affairs to the State Governor, Engr. Rex Okoro, stated this at the zonal Security Summit organized by the Imo State Police Command over the weekend. The maiden summit was organized in Partnership with the office of the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Affairs. The ceremony which aims at curbing crime, held Saturday, 13th July, 2019, at the Orlu Civic Center.

Engr. Okoro, who appears very optimistic of the success of such collaboration, expressed readiness of his office to partner with the Imo Police Command to deal with pressing security challenges aimed at reducing crime in the State.

He vowed to use his office to reduce the high rate of societal ills like drug abuse,cultism and prostitution through the help of the police, by mobilizing the cream of Imo youths to key into the project.

He gave assurance that his office through all youths organizations in the State, would partner with the police to look out for erring youths, street urchins and hoodlums who may want to indulge in illicit acts, in order to forestall such criminal intention and inclination.

The program was attended by the state commissioner of Police, Mr.Rabiu Ladodo, traditional rulers, members of the civil society organization and critical security stakeholders.

According to participants at the occasion, the rising spate of insecurity, herdsmen killings and the rumoured establishment of Ruga and possible invasion of the state by Boko Haram, have made the collaboration of Imo youths with the police to fight crime, imminent and a decision in the right direction.
