The Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikeduru LGA, has refuted the report by some media houses in the state that the former Senator representing Owerri zone (Imo East) Chief Samuel N. Anyanwu (Samdaddy), has been suspended from the party.

Writing under the caption, Re: Suspension of Senator Samuel N. Anyanwu, position of the LGA party”, the committee represented by the Chairman, Deacon Innocent Ofurum and Secretary, Martins Nwachukwu, explained that but for several calls and enquiries, they would have ignored the said publication which first featured in the Moment Newspaper of Tuesday, August 27, 2019. They equally maintained that as a Senator, and member of the State, Zonal and more so, the National Executive Committees of the party, no organ of the party except the National Executive Committee (NEC) has the power or capacity to discipline a Senator, talkless of suspending him from the party, indefinitely. They also described the purported indefinite suspension of Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu, as null, void, of no effect and inconsequential.

The two principal officers of the party in Ikeduru LGA as signatories to the rebuttal, warned the Amaimo ward chapter of PDP not to engage in such suicidal act that is inimical to the success of the party, saying, “the party at the LGA, will no longer tolerate this type of usurping of power any longer. The rumour however started when Samdaddy Anyanwu was reported as threatening to leave PDP, which he immediately denied before his detractors and perceived opponents induced and compromised the ward chapter executives to pronounce him suspended contrary to PDP constitutional provisions.
