Nnenator Ihioma community on January 6, 2020, conducted what passed as a very free, fair and violence free election to elect new town union executives.

The election which was witnessed by the Hon member representing Orlu State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Chief Pascal Okorie, was recorded as the most credible and peaceful so far in the community. As a result of the good performance of the past executive members of the Town Union they also emerged unopposed for the second tenure with Chief Sir Cyriacus Obiefule, from Isioji as the President General of the Town Union.

The re-elected Vice President is Mr Uchechukwu Emejuru from Umudim, the Secretary General is Chief Mattias Nwailo from Ezioha, the Assistant Secretary is Nze Chibuzo Okafor from Ezioha, the Financial Secretary is Elder Bright Ukagba from Umuezeala, the Treasurer is Ichie Ethel Udeze from Umudim, the Protocol Officer is Mr Mezie Mbagwu from Ezioha, the Auditor is Ebere Okwuchukwu from Umuezeala and the Assistant Financial Secretary is Pastor Okwuchukwu James Obiefule from Umuaro village. The executive positions were carefully spread among the villages that make up the community

In his remarks after the successful, peaceful election,Hon Okorie expressed deep sense of gratitude and approval of the election. He maintained that he wholeheartedly agreed with the re-election of the same executive members because they are the people’s choice.

Chief Sir Cyriacus Obiefule, the Town Union President General while addressing journalists shortly after his victory, thanked indigenes of Nnenato Ihioma Autonomous Community for believing in him and his team. He promised to perform better than he has performed in his past tenure, assuring them of a democratic and participatory government. He also added that, he will be a leader who accepts objective criticisms and not a ruler who dictates for the people at all times and in all circumstances.

Other dignitaries and observers present during the election were Chief Augustine Ezeanya, the Counselor representing Ebenese/Umuezennachi ward, Hon Chidiuto Okolie, the supervisor for Youths and Sports, Hon Prince Kennedy Leme, the President General of Amanato Ihetteowerri Development Union and so many others.
