Hon Obinna Okwara

A National newspaper online report last week had published that the Speaker of Imo Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins ordered the Nkwerre lawmaker out of plenary when he (Hon. Okwara) “suddenly began to sneeze and cough during a plenary session and that the development caused pandemonium” with his colleague scampering to safety, believing he is Coronavirus positive.

But reacting to the said media report at the weekend, Hon. Okwara said he was not even at the said plenary last Wednesday, March 26, 2020,  let alone coughing and sneezing. He made it clear that he was neither experiencing any fever nor was he hospitalized as a result of any form of ailment or terminal sickness, describing the report as highly embarrassing and unbecoming of an acclaimed reputable tabloid even as he derided the journalist who scripted the story of being unprofessional .

The Nkwerre born prince and ranking lawmaker also disclosed that his legal team is already working on the said report and advised media practitioners to imbibe the habit of investigating issues and cross checking with the parties before publishing.
