In his bid to reduce the suffering of the indigent ones in Orlu Zone, the Senator Representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Senator Rochas Okorocha has kick started the distribution of food items to the 12 council areas of the zone.
The distribution exercise was conducted by the Covid-19 Imo West Distribution Committee Chairman Chief Barr.Steve Asimobi, Monday, 20th April, 2020 as a palliatives to cushion the effects of corona virus pandemic in the zone.
Chief Asimobi said that former Imo State governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has remained a role model for philanthropy with his involvement in ensuring that the less privileged ones in the society received an effective education leading to establishment of Rochas Foundation College in over 16 States in Nigeria.
He maintained that Senator Okorocha has come to salvage the people of Imo West Senatorial Zone by the donations of over 20 thousand bags of Rice, Indomie noodles, Yams, Sanitizers, Tomatoes paste and many more to ensure that the issue of the current federal and State Governments shutdown order and curfew imposed on the state do not have any adverse effects on Orlu People.
He encourage the 12 Councils Distribution Committe Co ordinators to ensure that the relief materials are distributed accordingly.
Speaking the Former, Director General, Imo Broadcasting Coporation, Pastor Raph Aforaku said that the reason for the demonstration on the need to maintaining Social Distancing order is to teach the people on the need to maintain such order as coronavirus is real and avoidable through the maintenance of social distancing, regular washing of hands and using of hand sanitizers and avoid social gathering.
He thank the Senator for his benevolent and philanthropic gesture describing him as a man with much love for the less privileged ones.
In there separate contributions, Nze CJK Chinedu, Barr Ijeoma Igboanusi and Hon Kenneth Emelu who described the pandemic as a chemical war fare meant for the extermination of mankind and pointed out that the only solution is prayers. They also commiserated with the family of late Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari and insisted that the corona virus has unleashed it evil venom on so many families and called on Imo People mostly Orlu Zone to take the pandemic serious.
