The Imo State Ministry of Lands, Survey and Physical Planning has warned community leaders and people of Avu, Obinze, Nekede, Ihiagwa and enjoining communities in Owerri West local government area to beware of the mischievous activities of land speculators and fake property developers parading themselves and claiming to have been sent by the state government to negotiate with the people, with a view to acquiring land for public use.
This was contained in a release dated May 27th, 2020, signed by the Commissioner, Barr Enyinna Onuegbu, wherein he advised the communities concerned to ignore and discountenance with any document purported to have been issued by his Ministry authorizing the dubious and ill-motivated persons who want to hoodwink the people and fraudulently acquire their lands for personal and selfish reasons.
He stated that, “His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State has not directed any further acquisition of land from these communities but is engaged in sorting out questionable and avoidable issues arising from acquisitions by previous administrations. The state government will not accept or honour any transaction arising from these unauthorized schemes and shall disclaim any liabilities there-from”.
