According to the Commissioner, the Imo State government will ensure that anyone who involves in seditious or libelous publications, statements or comments against the government of the day must face the full wrath of the law. He added that in order to achieve a democracy governed by law, those in government and outside the government who are indicted of such criminality must be duly punished.

Emelumba went on to say that Imo State government was aware of the arrest and detention of Ambrose Nwogwugwu, the Director General, News Media Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the Department of the State Security (DSS).

The Commissioner said that the government knew about the seditious fabrications masterminded by Nwogwugwu and two others which were published in the social media platforms. He further listed some of the false statements and publications made by Nwogwugwu and cohorts which include the claims that the government planned to rename Imo State University after the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, and that the government had created three emirates in the state and installed three emirs and lately published, that the government had approved 15 Almaiji schools for the state. 

Hon Emelumba added in the release that the clarifications on Nwogwugwu’s arrest became necessary following different unauthorized claims that the government was not aware of the arrest and detention of Nwogwugwu, who was arrested by the DSS after investigating the allegations against him.
