We have all it takes, the universities, the brilliant graduates, the zeal, even the right weather (all year round), so it is fair to ask, why can’t Imo be the next Silicon Valley?

Well, our reporter has been categorically informed by Hon. Cllr. Celia Osakwe-Hibbert, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Diaspora that indeed Imo has all it takes to make the Eastern Region one of the wealthiest regions in Africa!

Hon. Cllr Celia Osakwe-Hibbert made this statement over the weekend after attending an early morning event put together by a group of young, talented technocrats, Imolites averaging the age of 24. We gathered that the SA to the Governor was invited as a Guest Speaker on the day, where she was asked to talk about ‘Foundation For Greatness’. She was clear that every single young person in the room has what it takes to be ‘world class’ in any field they choose…

Founders of thie organisation, ‘Bedrock Initiative’ are mixture of graduate and post graduate students, who are determined to plug the gap of challenges in the business world. They meet regularly as a group of think tanks to brainstorm on socio-economic solutions; they explore ways to ease business problems and aim to eventually create an organisation that will act as a research institute, proffering sustainable solutions to improve ways of doing business in Imo state.  Bedrock Initiative’ is a registered organisation.

An idea the SA Diaspora commended; she told our reporter that “In Imo young people are thinking outside the box, I’m extremely impressed to see this type of conceptualisation, this is the kind of thought process that make nations great, and we have it right here with us. I’m pleased my Boss, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the Governor of Imo state is inclined to making it easy for people like this to shine through, the government of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery is a stage set for young people of this calibre, those who are unafraid to work hard, the state will back them and throw their full weight behind them”.

The Special Adviser also called on Diasporans from various corporate backgrounds to reach out through the Office  of the Governor on Diaspora, in other to share their wealth of experience, which will no doubt accelerate efforts made by talented groups such as ‘Bedrock Initiative NGO’.
