-Why former ambassador remains best-Deputy Speaker

Imo State House on Tuesday November 24, during their plenary session deliberated the adoption of former Nigerian Ambassador to the United States of America, Professor George Obiozor as a consensus candidate for the forth coming election into the office of President-General of the apex socio-cultural organization of Igbos-Ohaneze Ndi Igbo.

The motion for the adoption of the erudite scholar and former, was moved by the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Amara Chyna Iwuanyanwu who also described Professor Obiozor as the best candidate for the office. His motion received massive support from his colleagues, without any dissenting voice.

Speaking on matter of urgent public importance while moving the motion to support the nomination of Professor George Obiozor as the President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, the deputy speaker averred that whereas Ndi-lgbo for long have been misunderstood and misrepresented in every sphere of life before other Nigerians and now there is need for Ndi-Igbo to be well represented in the scheme of things as it relates to national politics, there is need for a tested and trusted strong voice to be elected.He then noted that Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo serves as a focal point of reference  and collective leadership in matters affecting Ndi-Igbo.

“Aware that Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo is currently headed by the President/General, Nnia Nwodo and his three year tenure will soon come to an end, the adoption of Prof. George Obiozor he added, has become imminent.

Aware also that the relevant stakeholders of “Ohaneze Ndigbo”. Imo State Chapter on the 22nd day of November, 2020 presented a consensus candidate in the person of Prof. George Obiozor to be the next President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo after Nnia Nwodo since the mantle of leadership has gotten to the turn of Imo State.

Worthy of note is the fact that not only is Prof. George Obiozor eminently qualified by his wealth of experience; he is also tactful, diplomatic accommodating and determined to unite Ndi-Igbo for a common goal.

Be it resolved by this Honourable House that His Excellency, Dist.  Sen. Hope Uzodinma be urged to support the nomination of Prof. George Obiozor as the next President General of “Ohaneze Ndi-Igbo” from the Imo State Chapter;

Be it further resolved that this Honourable house supports the consensus candidature of Prof. George Obiozor to be the next President General of Ohaneze Ndi-lgbo”.

A statement from the House of Assembly made available to the media on Wednesday November 24, on the position of the house on nomination of Amb. George Obiozor as President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, confirmed the resolution as unanimous.

“The office of the Deputy Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Amarachi Chyna Iwuanyanwu, has, as a matter of importance, backed the nomination of Amb. Prof. George Obiozor, for the position of President General of Ohaneze Ndiigbo. 

The support was made known today, November 25, 2020, during the plenary session of the Imo State House of Assembly. 

To legally back his support, Rt. Hon. Amara Iwuanyanwu moved a motion on the floor of the House, urging the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma to support the nomination of Amb. Obiozor. 

Giving reasons on the undaunted, and impeccable character of the Ohaneze Ndigbo aspirant, who before now was an Ambassador to the United States of America, Israel, and Cyprus, he was described as the best brain for the position”, the statement averred. 

In furtherance, Rt. Hon Amara Iwuanyanwu seized the opportunity to call well meaning Imolites to join the train, in ensuring that Imo State’s proud son emerges the next President General. 

He wished Amb. Obiozor a successful outing, while assuring of the Legislative support.
