The Old Students’ Association of Ojike Memorial Secondary School, Orlu, Imo State, will on 1st January 2021, hold what they called their Second Home Coming/Unveiling of 2021 Almanac. 

The event which is scheduled to hold in the premises of Ojike Memorial Secondary School at 12noon on that day will be under the Chairmanship of Comrade Precious Nwadike, the senatorial candidate of United Progressive Party UPP, for Orlu Zone in the 2019 election.

The Chairman of the Planning Committee Engr. Chiedozie Emereonye (MNSE), said the event which will also feature recognition and  awards to the Best performing Teacher and Best performing Student in the school is aimed at engendering healthy competition to ensure academic excellence. 

Engr.  Emereonye further stated that the criteria for the awards include punctuality, industriousness, proactiveness, respectfulness, availability, coordination and impactful teaching/learning.

“So far, two persons, namely Mrs. Loveth Eboh and Mrs. Okafor Chidinma Gloria have been nominated.  The nomination is based on a survey conducted by the association and input from some teachers and students who were interviewed.”

He also disclosed that an illustrious daughter of Orlu Zone, Lady Theresa Ikpe has on her own, taken up the responsibility of awarding scholarship to deserving students of the school in addition  to providing  necessary moral and financial support.”

According  to a release by the association the event which will be attended by  dignitaries from all walks of life has the  Imo State Commissioner for Education, Prof B.T.O Ikegwuoha as Special Guest of honour, the President, Orlu Recreation Club, O’ Bright Onyekachi as Chief Launcher, Rev Fr. Val Ogike and Gerald Ekpe as Co-launchers, Hon Pascal Okorie, member, representing Orlu State constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Ifeoma Ndukwu Chairman, Interim Management Council (IMC) of Orlu and President of the association,  Mr. Chris  Ezekiel and Mrs. Obiageri Nnaemeka Agu as  host.
