Factional President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Hon Chidi Ibe, on Friday, February 13, 2021, inaugurated new executives of the Imo State chapter of the socio-cultural organization at the Virgin Cafe Hotel, Owerri.

Speaking  at the occasion, the President General, expressed confidence in the Amb Akpelu Izunna leadership of the Imo state chapter. He described Amb Akpelu as a hardworking, purposeful, focused and selfless man who has upheld the honour and integrity of Ohaneze and relentlessly worked towards actualizing the goals and aspirations of Ndigbo. He urged other members of the executive to emulate his attributes.

He also commended them for their effort and commitment towards the growth of the organization and assured that posterity will not forget them and urged them to inaugurate the executives of the 27 local government chapters in the state and those of  the various autonomous communities.

High Chief Ibe stressed that, Ohaneze is poised to ensure that Igbos regain their lost glory and occupy their rightful place in the scheme of things in the country.

“We will ensure that Igbos get whatever is due to us. There are seven Igbo speaking states in the country and we are striving to regain the seven states intact. We will also soon, unveil a programme captioned “Oji” which  is aimed at educating our people on why we Igbo’s plant and accord respect to Oji and the essence of Oji in Igbo land.” Chief Ibe further hinted that a temporary headquarters has been secured in Abuja and will be inaugurated soon.

He affirmed that he is the authentic President General of Ohaneze having been duly elected on January 9, 2021 despite the kangaroo election conducted by Amb Obiozor and his group that did not conform with the constitution of Ohaneze which stipulates that the group’s election must be conducted at the Ohaneze secretariat.

In an Interview, the Chairman of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Imo State Chapter Amb Akpelu Izunna explained that the organization will soon come up with a project that will eradicate street begging in Igbo land. “Igbos are not known for begging, we are hardworking people. Skill acquisition training will be set up for them to enable them become independent and self reliant. 

He assured that his executive members that he will take Ohanaeze to the grassroots as the inauguration will be replicated in all local government areas of the state.

He thanked the National Chairman for gracing the occasion and promised not to let the organization down.
