The member representing Mbaitoli state constituency at the Imo state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Okey Onyekanma, has splashed  N3.6m micro grant on women in twelve communities in Mbaitoli local government area of Imo state.

Onyekanma made the donations during this year’s August meetings in different communities in Mbaitoli local council area.

Speaking during the occasion of August meeting of Afara Women Development Union,  the lawmaker said that the gesture was to support petty traders and boost their capacities, especially this period of economic downturn.

“The money is strictly for petty traders. It has been my plan to support them. We know that when you empower women, you have empowered an entire society.

“This is my commitment to supporting hardworking petty traders who have no financial capacity to grow their businesses,” the lawmaker explained.
