While the preparations for its annual Mbaise Unity Cup Football Tournament is in the pipeline, Ikukuoma Foundation has instituted a mini football competition in Mbaise, tagged Ezeagbogu Open League Championship.


The league championship which is instituted as a Prelude to the main Ikukuoma Mbaise Unity Cup was launched on Sunday the 19th day of September  at Central School Filed, Ezeagbogu  in Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA.
The inaugural and ceremonial kick-off shot was taken by the Director-General of Ikukuoma Foundation, Comrade Julius Nnaji alongside the younger brother of the Founder, Mr. Promise Nwokie who stood in the stead for the visionary founder of the topnotch humanitarian foundation, (High Chief) Dr. Summers V.C Nwokie. Thereafter, the opening match kicked off in earnest.


Eight teams are competing for honors in the mini-tournament, namely Arsenal FC, Manchester United FC, Manchester City FC, Barcelona FC, Leicester City FC, and Juventus FC with players selected from the indigenes and residents in the very localities.


The competition is scheduled to run for six (6) weeks, after which the team that garners the highest points will be crowned champions.
Ikukuoma Foundation aims at using these tournaments to Foster peace, harmonious coexistence, and also as a resourceful engagement to digress the minds of young people off drug abuse and illicit trafficking.


Aside numerous humanitarian and  Community Social Responsibilities being undertaken by Dr. Summers  Nwokie through his Ikukuoma Foundation, it is noteworthy to acknowledge his tremendous developmental strides in sports and youth development.


The Champions League is being coordinated by Mr. Chinedu Ekwueme ( Akurulo) under the supervision of Ikukuoma Foundation Personnel.
