As Delegates Reject  #1m largesse

It was a black moment on yesterday  for the Senator representing Imo East Senatorial district, Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi as plot by some leaders of the party in the LGA to adopt him hit the bricks.

Investigation by this reporter reveals that in a meeting which was convened on Thursday at the instance of Senator Onyewuchi at the residence of Sir Ambrose Ejiogu, the PDP apex leader in the LGA via a text message which part reads ” Dear Leader ,You are specially invited to a strategy meeting of Owerri North PDP leaders on Thursday 17/02/2022 at the residence of Chief Sir Ambrose Ejiogu,  Umuakuru Emekuku, by 1pm.Dear leader, please tomorrow’s meeting is strictly on invitation. Thanks!”,was aimed at securing adoption for Senator Onyewuchi.

In the meeting which had in attendance all statutory Delegates and leaders of the party in the LGA, the former transition Committee chairman of Owerri North LGA, Solomon Onwuegbuchalam moved a motion for the adoption of Senator Onyewuchi for the 2023 Senatorial election and was shouted down by some delegates and leaders of the party. Thereafter, a counter motion was moved  by a ward Secretary of the party, Mr John Mbata which attracted an overwhelming support of majority of the leaders and Delegates in the meeting.

Following the failure of the adoption plot , some leaders and Delegates of the party who were not comfortable with the planned adoption of Senator Onyewuchi walked out of the meeting and rejected the one million naira brought by the Senator which was later shared 5000 each by few who stayed  behind.

It can be recalled that following the declaration of other aspirants for the seat, the second term Senatorial bid of the Senator has continued to experience hiccups.

Few weeks ago, an attempt to secure similar adoption was also rejected in Abuja by Owerri Zone PDP leaders.

When contacted on phone, Mr John Mbata confirmed that he moved a counter motion  which was greeted by massive support from party faithful, especially the delegates from Owerri zone.
