The disclosure by the Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma that his administration has so far spent over N100 billion on the rehabilitation of roads in the state has elicited mixed reactions from Imolites who have expressed surprise at the governor’s statement which according to them is bogus, outrageous and unrealistic in view of the realities on ground.

Some stakeholders political pundits who commented on the Governor’s claim urged him to give Imo people whose collective wealth the N100 billion is and on whose mandate he spent the money, a breakdown of where, when and how the said money was disbursed, the names of the contractors who executed the projects and how much each of them was paid in addition to the names and addresses of those who were paid compensation for the loss of economic trees and other properties, in the course of the construction /rehabilitation of the roads if any.”

According to them, “to the best of our knowledge, the few roads the Hope Uzodinma administration has continuously hyped their rehabilitation amidst orchestrated pomp and pageantry are the Owerri-Orlu and the Owerri-Okigwe roads, aside other shabbily effected minor repairs on some intra-city road links.”

“To this end, we urge Governor Hope Uzodinma, his foot soldiers and image makers to as a matter of urgency, throw more light on how he arrived at the N100 Billion he claims to have spent on the rehabilitation of roads in the state. As far as we are concerned and in view of verifiable facts the Governor Uzodinma’s claim is bogus, frivolous and neither here nor there”.

“We insist on this data verification because the Uzodinma APC led administration in Imo state has made deceit, misconception, misinformation, and misrepresentation of facts aimed at hoodwinking the people tools of governance.”

Recall, that Governor Uzodinma at a meeting he held with traditional rulers from the 27 Local Government Areas of Imo state recently claimed that his government has spent over N100 billion on road infrastructure in the past two years.

The Governor stressed that the achievement was made possible because of the cordial relationship between the state and federal governments as a result of party affiliation as both are led by the All Progressive Congress APC.

The meeting with the traditional rulers was held at the Eze Imo palace at Mbari Owerri Imo state.

Uzodimma thanked the monarchs for their contributions so far towards peace, security and development in Imo State and regretted that in the process of their efforts for a better Imo society they have suffered humiliations and even deaths.
