–      Says: Gov Has Performed, Excellently

The Eze-elect of Umuihugba Umuodu autonomous community in Owerri Municipal Council of Imo State, Deacon Kevin Tochukwu Ihebom, FCA, has congratulated the Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma on what he described as ‘’well deserved emergence as the governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress APC for the November, 11, 2023 Imo State governorship election’’

Ihebom, the immediate past Bursar of Alvan Ikoku Federal College of Education, Owerri, who stated this in an exclusive interview with Nigeria Watchdog Newspaper, expressed delight at the development, stressing that ‘’Governor Uzodinma’s re-election will not only herald the dawn of a more glorious era but will also enable him to consolidate on the numerous people-oriented programs and policies he initiated for the good of Imo people who have heaved sighs of relief since he assumed office.

Ihebom said, ‘’despite assuming office at a very turbulent period when the Covid19 pandemic and insecurity that almost crippled the state, among other challenges were at their peak, the Governor deployed his wealth of experience and administrative prowess to effectively navigate the terrain. Today insecurity has been nipped in the bud, hence Imolites now go about their lawful duties freely without fear of molestation or attack’’.

‘’The Governor’s landmark achievements in the area of road construction and rehabilitation, youth empowerment, creation of development centers that have brought governance closer to the people attest to the fact that he means well for Imo people’’.

‘’The Orlu-Owerri, Owerri-Okigwe, Owerri-Umuahia roads, among others that used to be death traps are now wearing new looks because the 3R administration engaged reputable world class construction companies to rehabilitate them to ameliorate the plight of the people. Other rural link roads like Owerri-Ihiagwa, MCC-Toronto and other rural link roads in the state that gave Imo people sleepless nights have all received the attention of the Hope Uzodinma administration who has shown passionate commitment to the welfare of the people’’.

Ihebom, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria ICAN, who will be inaugurated as a Patron of the Institute on Friday, May, 19, 2023 at Rockview Hotel, Owerri, in recognition of ‘’his excellent achievements as a Chartered Accountant and mostly for the support he grants to the activities of ICAN with emphasis to Owerri District’’ said, ‘’Governor Uzodinma’s decision to commence the dredging of Orashi River is a very a commendable feat that will enhance the socio-economic development of our dear state for the good of the people. It is only a leader with vision and foresight that will have the courage to embark on such project which will offer enormous long term benefits’’

‘’It is also on record that immediately on assumption of office, Governor Uzodinma sanitized and repositioned the civil service, blocked all loopholes through which funds were frittered away through the payment of ghost workers and other unnecessary expenses, hence, today, the civil service which is the engine room of government has been transformed, as civil servants now receive their salaries regularly. They also have buses that take them to and from work, courtesy of the Hope Uzodinma-led 3R administration, that has restored the lost glory of the civil service’’.

‘’The reconstruction of Eke Ukwu Owerre  market that was demolished by the Rochas Okorocha administration is another gesture for which Owerre people will remain eternally grateful to the Governor. He also recovered Eastern Palm University, Ogboko, (now ko Mbadiwe University) which was appropriated by former governor Okorocha for Imo people who are the rightful owners’’.

Eze-elect Ihebom also commended the Governor for recognizing and making the traditional institution more relevant and visible in addition to carrying them along in the governance of the state. For this, and many more landmark achievements, the governor’s re-election bid is a very positive and welcome development that will be in the interest of Imo people at home and in the Diaspora.

Responding to a question, Eze-elect Ihebom, a Deacon who was unanimously chosen by his people in accordance with the constitution, traditional and customary norms of the community after the demise of HRH, Eze Arthur Linus Ihebom, Ihuodu I and Ihuoji IV of Umuhugba Umuodu autonomous community said ‘’the traditional institution should not be isolated from government because it is their duty to mobilize support for the government in power, encouraged, mobilize and galvanize their people to do same because they are at the grassroots’’.
