–      say: emphasis ‘II be on ability to tackle insecurity

Orluzurumee Youth Assembly OYA, the apex socio-cultural youth organization that unites, canvasses for and protects the interests of the 12 local government areas of Orlu zone has said that the zone will discuss and negotiate with Owerri  and Okigwe zone  to ensure that the best candidate who will guarantee the security of lives and properties emerges victorious at the forthcoming election.

The group noted that, in line with its commitment to the return of normalcy in Orlu zone and environ as opposed to the current devastating security challenges that have enveloped the area, they have started consulting critical stakeholders in Orlu zone, adding that the zone will not throw their weight behind any person without purposeful leadership style and ability to negotiate and dialogue, with a view to ensuring that the immediate and long term interests of Orlu zone are outlined and accommodated.

This was contained in a release signed on behalf of the group by Comrade Emejuru Thaddeus and Comrade Chibueze Principal as National President and National Secretary respectively, made available to the press.

The release reads,‘’Orlu  Youths are going to be more concerned about who has the capacity to address these challenges without sentiments as our people have suffered as never before in recent times.

“Take a good look at our Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu, Imo state College of Nursing Okporo, Sam Okparaji Stadium, Orlu international Market and even Orlu/Mgbee/Akokwa road and you will understand the level of decay in   infrastructure.

“We applaud the efforts of Gov. Hope Uzodinma on the construction of Owerri/Orlu road and urge him as a true son of Orlu to do more. The concentration should not just be in Owerri. Okigwe and Orlu have remained grossly underdeveloped, particularly Orlu zone which has held the governorship position for 20 years since democracy returned in Nigeria, yet there is nothing to show for it.

“As we continue our consultation with the critical stakeholders in the state, traditional rulers, House of Representatives and Assembly members, town Union presidents and other relevant groups. We shall make our position public after due consultations by Orluzurumee Youth Assembly’’.
