As the off season governorship election scheduled to hold in Imo State, November, 11, draws nearer, a former Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Chief Orikaeze Ajumbe, has called on Governor Hope Uzodinma to do all he can to nip insecurity in the bud.

Ajumbe, a veteran politician and onetime Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party ANPP, in Imo State expressed concern about the escalating security challenges in the state and prayed that the situation should be bright under control.

The Amaimo, Ikeduru Local Government Area born politician, in a telephone interview said, “if  urgent steps are not taken to address the situation and put an end to the senseless killings, arson etc going in the state, the November, 11, election, would record high level of voter apathy.

He said, “The security situation in imo is worrisome and i think that gov Uzodinma being the chief security officer of the state do everything within his power to bring it to an end. Why people are blaming him is because if you are a teacher and your students fails examination, who is to be blame, in the security situation he is like the teacher and that’s why they are blaming him”.

Speaking on the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in the state, Ajumbe, who said he does not belong to any political party for now, hinted that there were moves to reconcile the two factional leaders, former Governor Emeka Ihedioha and the National Secretary of the party, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, ahead of the guber election.

“The issue between Ihedioha and Sam Daddy is personal, who will be the leader of the party. The problem is selfish interest, but there moves to reconcile the two”

Fielding questions on the re-election bid of governor Uzodinma and the gale of endorsements by prominent Imo leaders, he dismissed the endorsement as mere political jamboree that will not translate to victory at the poll.

“Endorsement cannot translate ro victory at all. The same endorsement in Edo for Oshiomole camp against gov Obaseki, some commissioner’s left Obaseki and collected money from Oshiomole but Obaseki won. It happened in Anambra, people went and collected money from the APC candidate and endorsed him, even the deputy governor and some commissioner’s, at the end of the day Soludo won , so endorsements does not translate to victory”
