–         OKIPOCA Debuts, As Stakeholders Unite

What many have referred to as a pointer to the direction the pendulum of victory will swing to in the Imo State governorship election scheduled to hold on November, 11, 2023, as regards Okigwe zone, emerged recently at a gathering of the six local government councils of the zone otherwise referred to as Imo North Senatorial district, as political leaders and other stakeholders comprising opinion molders, Town Union Presidents General, women groups, youth leaders, the clergy traditional rulers, among others came out in their numbers under the aegis of Okigwe Political Consultative Assembly (OKIPOCA) to chart a way forward.

The gathering which was presided over by the erstwhile Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Maxwell Duru (Omeudo) supported by the incumbent Speaker of the 10th Assembly Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe, alongside the representative of Distinguished Senator Patrick Ndubeze, Hon Greg Owualam, Barr Jerry Egemba, Hon Simeon Egbuchulam, Lady Love Ineh PhD and many other distinguished personalities of Okigwe zone extraction brainstormed and articulated views on the way forward for Okigwe zone in the present political dispensation.

The current Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development in Imo State Lady (Mrs) Love Ineh PhD, in her address at the occasion harped on the need for all and sundry to ensure that Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma emerges victorious in the November, 11, Imo State governorship election, “because he is the best option in all ramifications, especially his love and concern for Okigwe zone and her people”.

She disclosed that OKIPOCA has come together to convene a Town Hall meeting to educate, sensitize and mobilize the people on how best to actualize the socio-political and economic development of Okigwe zone in line with the prevailing realities.

She maintained that the survival of Okigwe zone must be anchored on peace, love, unity and truth adding that Okigwe zone that was formerly marginalized with deficiency of social infrastructure is now wearing a new look, courtesy of Governor Hope Uzodinma’s passionate commitment to transforming the zone.

She enumerated the achievements of Governor Uzodinma, in the past 3 years which according to her, include, “the 53 Kilometers of OWERRI Okigwe Express, the Ongoing Rehabilitation of Owerri /Mbaise to  Obowo / Umuahia  Road in addition to 5 Kilometer Internal Routes in each LGA .

Other Projects given to Ndi Okigwe zone includes the reactivated Constructions of School of Engineering, Imo State University Onuimo Campus as well as the sites of Imo Housing Scheme Anara , Isiala Mbano etc. 

In her words, “it is therefore necessary for Ndi Okigwe zone to appreciate these gestures by re-electing Governor Uzodimma for second tenure on November 11, 2023. 

The meeting also mentioned the numerous appointments offered to Imo North Sons and daughters.

Barr. Jerry Egemba, from Ehime Mbano disclosed that all Imolites are appreciative of the good works Senator Hope Uzodinma since the past three Years. He pointed out that his emergence remains Devine meaning that Only God can stop his second term. 

Barr. Egemba said forceful rejection of Ohakim for Second term led Imo state to wobbling. The political heavy weight who hails Umunumo Ehime Mbano told the audience that Senator Hope Uzodinma is the best gift and Hope of Ehime Mbano Communities.

Earlier, Rt. Hon Chike Olemgbe, Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly in his speech said that there are two candidates in the 11th. Nov 2023 elections, while Gov. Hope is the Vaccine, other Contestants are Imo Virus.

Hon. Barrister Uche Konkwo moved a Motion that submissions of People be appraised for adoption or otherwise. 

This led the Chairman and former Speaker to raise the galvel after secondment by one Leader. It was unanimously resolved that Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma is the one and only choice candidate of the people of Okigwe zone for the November 11 Imo guber election.

Reacting to the resolution of Ndi- Okigwe, a Community Leader and the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the State, Chief Simon Ebegbulem told the audience that Okigwe People like other Imolites who are desirous of good governance and economic advancement must join hands with the Sen. Hope Uzodimma Campaign groups to ensure his landslide victory on November 11, 2023, adding that the governor has shown much compassion to Okigwe zone”.
