A cleric, Evangelist Nwajuo, has cautioned politicians and other influential people in the society to stop using operatives of the the dreaded Tiger Base Unit of the Imo State Police Command to harass and intimidate Imolites over civil matters.

The cleric who stated this while narrating his recent experience to newsmen, stated that, he was at the office of the Tiger Base Unit in Owerri recently in respect of a civil matter that his cousin was involved in. He expressed disgust at the way he was addressed and treated like a common criminal despite having introduced himself as clergy man.

He said, “for the period I stayed there, I noticed that most of the people who came there, were brought at the instance of politicians and other influential members of the society with whom they had minor issues, while others were brought and allegedly dumped there by those who wanted to deal with them based on trumped up charges and allegations that lack merit”.

He expressed regret that Imo people are encouraging such absurdity, adding that the unit, under normal circumstances should be concerned about fighting crime and criminality and not to terrorize and unleash mayhem on presumably innocent people at the instance of those who think that they have the power to make or mar others”.

Evangelist Nwajuo, advised operatives of the Tiger Base Unit and those who use them to witch hunt others to desist forthwith from their nefarious activities to avoid incurring the wrath of God who dispenses justice at the fullness of time, irrespective of status and position .

“Much as I blame the outfit for its extreme actions, I also blame Imo people for allowing themselves to be used by others to intimidate and terrorize their brethren”.
