The Member, representing Owerri Federal Constituency of Imo State in the Federal House of Representatives, Hon Tochukwu Okere has been announced by the leadership of the green chamber as Chairman, House Committee on Diaspora.
This, is said to have come to many as a surprise considering the fact that Okere, is a first timer and reportedly, the first member of the Federal House of Representatives from the South east to occupy such juicy position.
Hon Okere, who was elected on the platform of Labour Party, is said to have proven himself as one who understands his legislative duties and is passionately committed to achieving results.
He has also made himself a rallying point for the Labour Party and obidient supporters through is unassuming nature.This, according to some party stakeholders has continuously endeared him to his constituents and Imo people at large. Hence, he was appointed Chairman of the Athan Achonu Campaign Council, ahead of the just concluded governorship election in the state.
