It was a very joyous atmosphere recently at the  pastoral Centre, Owerri, where a free and fair election of  the Owerri Building Materials Traders Association (OBMTA)  was held.

 The  OBMTA Presidential Election between  Comrade  Anthony Okonkwo and Cyriacus  Onwuamaegbu was keenly contested for before the emergence of Comrade Okonkwo Antony as the president. Other officials who  were equally  produced via same process include the Secretary, Financial Secretary and others.president  and other officials   

The Election of the President which was keenly contested for between Comrade  Okonkwo Anthony and  Cyriacus Onwuamaegbu had the security operatives , ISAMATA  President, Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie and some journalists as Observers.  

 The election which commenced  at about 11a.m with  accreditation and voting  saw  Comrade Okonkwo emerging with 338 votes  to beat his rival, Cyriacus Onwuamaegbu,  who polled  175 votes.

 In a brief interaction with some newsmen after  the election declaration, the president of Imo Amalgamated Market Traders Association (ISAMATA), Hon. Emmanuel Ezeanochie, commended the peaceful, free and fair conduct of the election by the OBMTA Electoral Committee,  which ended in producing  a man of their choice.

 He  praised all the organs that facilitated the success of the election, stressing that the newly emerged  Comrade Okonkwo  would  expectedly deliver  in 

 office.

 He used same avenue to assure all the members of OBMTA to work towards actualizing  their positive plans in 2024, with the assistance of God, stating that his involvement in  supervision of the election was to make sure that there was peaceful conduct of such an election.

 In same vein, the newly emerged OBMTA President, Comrade Okonkwo, commended the process that produced him, maintaining that his level of transparency, integrity, accountability and goodwill enabled his people to vote him in.

 He promised to tackle the issue of bad roads within  Naze building material market at the commencement of his administration, stressing his readiness to give it a  95% attention.
