The remnant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Imo State Chapter were shocked as the National Secretary and presumed Leader of the party in Imo was conspicuously absent as the party Inaugurated her Caretaker Committee in Imo.

According to sources in the party, the new Caretaker Chairman, Mr Chidi Dike was said to have complained that he was surprised that the National Secretary, Senator Sam Daddy Anyanwu stayed away even  after he had promised to be present at the occasion which took place on Wednesday in Owerri.

However, after waiting too long without the National Secretary showing up, the party went ahead with the inauguration of the Seventeen(17) Man Committee.

The Deputy National Chairman, Southeast, Dr Ali Odefa also shunned the event and could only send the Southeast Zonal  Secretary, Mr Ugwu to represent him in the Occasion.

The remaining PDP members in the State who attended the occasion expressed their regret that no meaningful or respected Imo Politician of note was sighted at the event.

Many commentators who assessed the event said that the resignation of Former Imo State Governor, Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha from PDP has taken light off the party, as even other topical Politicians in Imo State have left the PDP.

Political Pundits said that Imo PDP has lost its glory and will find it difficult to recover, especially now that Senator Anyanwu has assumed  the Position as the Leader in Imo.

They wondered why Anyanwu could not attend such an event even as he has been absent from Imo State after losing the 2023 Imo Governorship election, which he managed to come second with about 71 thousand votes.
