…No More Opposition In Orlu -Ohajimmadu
Astitute Politician and grassroot mobilizer from Ohafor Okporo/ Umutanze ward in Orlu LGA; Imo State, Rt. Hon. Nwagba Gozie Maurice has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress ( APC).
He was a former Leader of the Orlu LGA Legislative Arm while His Excellency, Dr. Ikedi Ohakim was Governor of Imo State.
The event commenced from his ward, Friday, thereafter, he was led by the Ward chairman of the party, Hon. Solomon Asiuloka to the LGA Chairman of the party in Orlu LGA; Rt. Hon. Stanley Chinedu Nwosu (Ochinanwata), who described Nwagba as an asset to the party and as an Eagle that has just landed, adding, he was a good a good leader and would be be recognized at all levels of the party.
Coincidentally, Nwosu was the Deputy Leader when Nwagba was the Leader of the council.
After the party’s rituals and formal activities and presentations, the new APC chieftain, Rt. Hon. Nwagba, was introduced to the Executive Chairman of Orlu Local Government Council; Pastor Hon.Chris Okechukwu Mbarie,JP; in his office.
Pastor Mbarie, enjoined Nwagba to feel free with the members of the party from the ward to the state as according to him, his declaration had been long expected, even while he expressed happiness over his decision to join the party, All Progressives Congress (APC).
He enjoined the party’s faithful in the area to see Nwagba as a stakeholder and carry him along in all the activities of the party.
Speaking to newsmen at the event, Rt. Hon. Nwagba, expressed his happiness in joining the APC and revealed that his decision to join the the rulling party in the state was as a result of the good governance of the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma and the the Chairman of the Local Government Council, Pastor Chris Mbarie respectively.
He described both of them as astitude politicians and great mobilizers who were loved by the masses.
“I believe, this is the right time to take this noble decision of leaving my former party for the rulling party in the state.
” For a very long time, PDP has been enshrined with crises and there is no reconciliation or solution in sight. Nobody wants to be in a sinking sheep or under a tattered umbrella, Nwagba, stated.
Rt.Hon. Gozie Maurice Nwagba, who is a great farmer called on the members of the APC in his ward to join hands together towards uplifting the party to more greater heights.
In a chat with our correspondent on the occasion, the Deputy Chairman of APC in Orlu LGA and former Councillor for Amaifeke Ward, Hon. Izuchukwu Ohajimmadu, further expressed delight over the decamping of the former Leader of the Council to APC from PDP, stating, his decision to join them was timely, even while he boasted that there was no more opposition in Orlu, pointing out that the only one that has been posing as an opposition has joined the party.
” There is no more opposition in Orlu LGA as the last person posing as one has just identified with the party, so there is nobody to advise as an opposition again”.
Lastly, Nwagba extolled the likes of Hon. Obinna Evaristus Onyeocha (Onowu),the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in Imo State, Barrister Hon. Isaiah Ezeogu (Igweoku), who was former Sole Administrator(SOLAD) of Orlu Local Government Council, Hon. Azubuike Nnajiuba (General Nato) and Hon. Iyke Egbe for keeping the flag of the APC flying in the ward so far and pledged to be loyal to the dictates of the party, just as he thanked the Chairman of the Council, Pastor Chris Okechukwu Mbarie for welcoming him wholeheartedly to the party, noting, ” I am not new in the business of politics. I have garnered experience in this and the names you hear in my former party were made by us who carry out the directives they give to us from Owerri or Abuja at the grassroots.
“I must respect the party’s hierarchy as already established in our ward. I can only participate actively, if the stakeholders sanction it”, Nwagba concluded.
Other party stalwarts that were present were,the Secretary of the party in Ohafor Okporo/ Umutanze ward; Hon. Emeka Oguaju, the woman leader, Hon. Mrs. Ifeyinwa Okolie, Hon. Anselm Okonkwo (Ofedike),the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Orlu Local Government Council and Ben Ugochukwu, former member, Interim Management Committee (IMC), who represented Amaifeke Ward in Orlu LGA IMC.
