The Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Council in Imo State marked International Children’s Day with a vibrant celebration, bringing together nursery, primary, and secondary school children from across the locality. The event was a testament to the council’s commitment to the welfare and development of children in the area.
The festivities featured a March Past with an Honor Salute to the Council Chairman, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, who was visibly delighted by the children’s enthusiasm and performance. The best-performing schools were recognized and rewarded with cash prizes, adding to the excitement of the day. The Wife of the Council Chairman, Nkechi Amadioha, hosted the children in a lavish party, making the day even more special for the young celebrants.
In his address, Chairman Amadioha relayed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s message, emphasizing the government’s commitment to protecting children. He highlighted the implementation of the “Nigeria National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children,” a comprehensive roadmap aimed at preventing abuse, prosecuting perpetrators, and supporting victims. Amadioha assured that the council would prioritize the protection of children, ensuring their safety and well-being.
The Chairman also announced plans to revive Scholarship Awards for intelligent pupils and students, motivating them to excel academically and morally. Additionally, he revealed that the state government would employ more qualified teachers to enhance quality learning in public schools. The council would also renovate dilapidated school structures, providing a better learning environment for children. Furthermore, the government’s Health Insurance Scheme would be extended to benefit children in the locality, demonstrating the administration’s commitment to their welfare.
Amadioha urged parents to treat their children with care, love, and protection, emphasizing that children are special blessings. He commended the massive turnout and performance of the children, as well as the efforts of teachers, and thanked the leaders of Ezes for gracing the event.
