…Call On Police, DSS To Investigate Omururuka’s Illicit Activities

The people of Obile autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, under the auspices of Obile Town Union Government (OTUG), have exonerated the Chairman of the Council, Hon Marcel Amadioha, his Vice, Mrs. Elizabeth Ulumma Jude Opara, President General of Obile autonomous community, Comr. Paschal Ndubuisi Obido and other members of OTUG, of the allegation of sponsoring violence, killing and cultism in Obile.

OTUG, who regretted the accusation, described it as falsehood, baseless, mischievous and politically motivated.

In a release signed and made available to the media in Owerri on Wednesday through Comr. Hillary Kingsley Chidi (PRO), Comr. Casimir Igwe (Fin Secretary) and Mrs. Stella Chinyerenwa Onyemaobi (Woman Leader), called on the State Government, the Police and the DSS to investigate the unlawful activities of Omururuka and cohorts, who they accused of being bribed by to malign the accused persons.

“During a press briefing held in Owerri on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, the leadership of Obile autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema LGA, Imo State, under the auspices of the Obile Town Union Government (OTUG), strongly refuted the recent false and malicious publication credited to Mr. Kingsley Chigozie Omuruka (Blocker), the immediate past PG of the community.

“The said publication, which circulated across social media and certain local tabloids, falsely accused the current PG, Comr Paschal Ndubuisi Obido, alongside the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Prince Marcel Amadioha, his Vice, Mrs. Elizabeth Ulumma Jude Opara and Obile community executive, of sponsoring violence, killings and cult-related activities in Obile.

“OTUG leadership described these allegations as baseless, mischievous and politically motivated. The claims were a deliberate attempt by Omuruka to mislead the public, destabilize the peace currently being enjoyed in the community and tarnish the reputation of credible leaders who have been working tirelessly to restore order and unity in Obile.

“Omuruka, having lost his moral authority and community legitimacy due to poor leadership, financial recklessness, mismanagement and abuse of office, during his tenure, has now resorted to blackmail and propaganda to discredit his successor, distract the community from the ongoing developmental progress.

“We clarified that Comr Paschal Ndubuisi Obido was duly and lawfully appointed (elected) and inaugurated as the President-General of Obile autonomous community on February 11, 2025, in accordance with the constitution and traditional leadership guidelines of Ohaji/Egbema under the supervision of the Executive Chairman, Prince Marcel Amadioha.

“His emergence was transparently conducted, ratified by the Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Authority, and overwhelmingly supported by Obile stakeholders and traditional rulers.

“Since assuming office, Obido has brought lasting peace, unity and stability to the community, fostering collaboration with security agencies and oil companies operating in the area to promote youth empowerment, infrastructural development and corporate social responsibility projects. Contrary to Mr. Omuruka’s fabricated claims, there is no evidence linking Obido or any member of his administration to violence, cultism, or killings in Obile”.

“The investigations conducted by the Divisional Police Headquarters in Ohaji and the Department of State Services (DSS) in Owerri never indicted Comrade Obido or his administration in any criminal activity.

“Instead, his leadership has maintained a close working relationship with security agencies to curb crime and cult-related activities within the community.

“OTOG identifies the real source of the lingering tension in Obile as the actions of a few disgruntled individuals, led by Mr. Omuruka, who are bent on disrupting the peace and progress of the community for selfish political gains.

“Omuruka and his cohorts are sponsoring false media reports to instigate fear, create confusion and undermine the legitimate leadership”, OTOG maintained.
