The Labour Party (LP) Candidate in the just concluded Anambra State governorship poll, George Moghalu, has described the election as a sham, fraudulent and undemocratic.
Moghalu alleged that vote buying, underage voting, thuggery and intimidation and other identified irregularities marred the election.
He pointed out these factors that prevented his victory at the poll while speaking to journalists in his residence in Nnewi, immediately after the announcement of results of the election.
Moghalu frowned that APGA Candidate, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, who was declared the winner of the election by INEC, weaponized poverty as he allegedly paid glutinous voters who sold their ballots to him, regretting that INEC and the security agents manipulated the election in favour of APGA Candidate, who he accused of murdering democracy in the state.
Moghalu also accused INEC of registering underage voters who he alleged were allowed to vote in the election, with security agents and some independent observers keeping dead mute.
“The November 8. 2025 Anambra State governorship election was a sham. Vote buying was in alarming level, underage voting played out visibly, some thugs were caught with election materials. LP agents not being at INEC Headquarters during the announcement of the result was because of intimidation and irregularities.
“In some places, poverty was weaponized so that voters accepted money to vote for a particular Candidate. In some areas like Obosi, there were obvious thuggery. The entire process was faulty. INEC manipulated the election to favor APGA”, Moghalu pointed out.
He said he is yet to take position whether or not to challenge the poll in the tribunal or call for its cancellation, saying investigation on the outcome of the poll is being engineered.
