A Matriarch, Ezinne Emejuo Helen Ojika (Nee Ugorji), has been committed to mother earth in her husband’s compound in Umuanyanwu village, Obitti, Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of Imo State, amid tears, on Friday, 28th, November, 2025.

In his tribute, the first son of the decease, Chukwuemeka Ojika, said late Helen Ojika lived a godly, sweetly life, being a good and devoted christian, who played significant role towards the growth of St Lucy’s Catholic Church, including Obitti community.

According to the first son, “Ezinne Helen (Nene, as she was fondly called), was a socialite, a leader and a devout Christian of Catholic faith: St. Lucy’s Catholic Church Obitti Ohaji. She lived a fulfilled life, she was committed to the things of God and always inculcated Godly virtues to her children, neighbours, fellow women, which enabled them to get closer to God. A member of St. Mary Society, among other religious groups”.

Just as Placidus Ojika, CEO, Cyrus and Sons, described the late Matriarch as a sweet mother who affected lives positively. He added that his mother would remain green in their memories, even as they uphold her good legacies of love, peace, benevolence, meekness, humility and godliness.

Her interment was preceded by a requiem Eucharistic Celebration at St. Lucy’s Catholic Parish Obitti Ohaji where the chief celebrant, Rev. Fr. Kyrian Ekeh, prayed to God to “receive her soul into His peace and raise up her body on the last day.

In a homily, Rev. Fr. Boniface Edomobi (from Okigwe Diocese), admonished followers of Christ to always serve God with their full spirit and strength while offering love to their fellow human beings to be able to merit Heaven.
