–         Says, It’s Partnership With FUTO, FG, Valid, Paramount

Orient Garden City Company, has responded to statements and publications made by Esv Surv Sam Anokam as the Sole Attorney to the Federal University of Technology (FUTO) land owners.

The company in a release it issued and made available to the press, refuted Anokam’s claims, claiming that it has a valid Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the management of FUTO and the federal government to develop the said land.

Orient Garden City, also posited that FUTO has owned and been in possession of the said lands for decades, hence what it referred to as Anokam’s belated tantrums are neither here nor there.

The release captioned, “Orient Garden City Company Puts Records Straight”, reads as follows, “In response to recent statements and publications made by Barrister L.U.N Nwakaeti on behalf of Surv. Sam Anukam, purported representative of FUTO host communities and landlords, Orient Garden City Company issued a statement refuting the claims. The company, one of the organizations with a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop FUTO land, aims to clarify several points to ensure the public is properly informed.

Firstly, Orient Garden City emphasizes that no court order has been issued against FUTO or the company regarding its land holdings. They assert that FUTO’s ownership of its land is legally established and undisputed since as far back as 1980, rendering any contrary assertions baseless.

Secondly, the company asserts that the ownership of FUTO land is not in dispute with the host communities. Traditional rulers of these communities have denied any involvement in Sam Anukam’s alleged activities such as land grabbing or encroachment. Orient Garden City Company fully supports the traditional rulers’ position and refutes any claims made by Sam Anukam.

Thirdly, it is clarified that FUTO has not sold, nor does it plan to sell, any part of its land to individuals or organizations. Orient Garden City Company is engaged in a joint venture partnership with FUTO for the development of the land, specifically for a housing estate within the new FUTO College of Medicine environment.

Moreover, the project is hailed as a transformative initiative in the South East, with potential economic benefits including job creation and attracting investments to the region. This collaboration between Orient Garden City Company and FUTO aligns with the Federal Government’s Joint Venture policy aimed at enhancing institutional infrastructure and academic resources.

Therefore, Orient Garden City Company urges the public to exercise caution and discernment regarding any claims or statements made by Barrister Nwakaeti regarding FUTO land. They emphasize that engaging in land transactions with Sam Anukam and his associates regarding FUTO land is done at one’s own risk, disclaiming any association with such transactions and refusing liability for any repercussions arising from them”.
