The Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo State Council, has appointed and inaugurated a Dispute Resolution/Disciplinary Committee.
The inauguration took place last Friday during the Union’s Congress held at its Secretariat in Owerri.
Inaugurating the committee, the Chairman of the NUJ, Imo State Council, Comrade Nwadike Precious, charged members to discharge their duties in line with the ethics of the journalism profession to achieve meaningful results.
Nwadike explained that the committee was constituted to strengthen discipline, promote good conduct, and uphold ethics and professionalism among council members.
He stressed that the committee is also mandated to summon any member involved in a dispute with another member to facilitate peaceful reconciliation, among other responsibilities, in order to maintain discipline and ensure the progress of the union.
“The committee shall report its findings and recommendations to the general assembly,” he added.
Members of the committee are: Elder Lambert Ojukwu (Chairman), Comrade Victor Madumere (Member), and Sagas Queeneth (Member).
