-Positions self for Principal Office
A member of the House of Representatives, Emeka Chinedu Martins, has intensified consultations across the Ahiazu/Ezinihitte Mbaise Federal Constituency as he seeks support for a third-term bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking during meetings with party leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the lawmaker appealed for backing to secure a principal position in the Green Chamber, such as Majority Leader, Chief Whip, or Chairman of key committees.
Martins, who noted that it is the turn of Ahiazu Mbaise in the constituency’s political arrangement, urged leaders to unite behind his ambition. He stressed that occupying a principal office would attract greater federal presence to the area, including roads, jobs, and major institutions such as a federal university.
He cited examples of ranking lawmakers who leveraged leadership positions to bring development to their constituencies, including Emeka Ihedioha, Femi Gbajabiamila, and Benjamin Kalu.
At a stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday at the Ahiara Mbaise LGA Secretariat, Martins highlighted his achievements across the 24 wards of the constituency, listing projects such as classroom blocks, solar-powered streetlights, and road construction in Obohia.
He also said he had supported many constituents through financial assistance, healthcare interventions, and facilitation of federal employment opportunities.
According to him, “life comes first,” emphasizing his focus on welfare support alongside infrastructural development.
In his remarks, the Ahiazu Mbaise APC Chairman welcomed the lawmaker and assured that leaders of the federal constituency would soon convene to deliberate on the consultations and determine the way forward.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with party leaders and members expressing optimism as political activities gradually build toward the 2027 general elections.
