…As party stakeholders express dissatisfaction over outcome of congress

There are indications that mass defections may soon hit the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State, following grievances expressed by aggrieved members over what they described as Governor Uzodinma’s domineering attitude during the ward, LGA, state, and national congresses of the party.

The dissatisfied stakeholders alleged that they were denied input throughout the entire process.

It was gathered that after the congresses, some aggrieved leaders and stakeholders from different political camps traveled to Abuja in a bid to overturn the outcome but were unsuccessful. They were reportedly informed that the lists had already been accepted by the party’s top hierarchy.

As a result, many of those who feel shortchanged are reportedly making plans to defect from the APC to either the Advanced Democratic Party (ADC) or the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A cross-section of leaders and stakeholdersincluding Ugwumba Uche Nwosu and members of former Governor Rochas Okorocha’s camp, as well as those aligned with Senator Ifeanyi Ararume have expressed disappointment over what they described as Uzodinma’s hijack of the process to their detriment.

Already, a former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, has defected to the PDP. While it remains unclear which position he intends to contest, a close source indicated that he is likely to run for the Owerri Senatorial seat.

According to observers, these developments could significantly weaken the APC’s structure in the state.
